DAY OFF!

The end of the semester is coming up- which means almost every minute of the day Aaron is either working on his final projects, talking about how much work he still has to do on his final projects, or talking about his final projects in his sleep (not a joke.) After a 2am night at work and a 9am group meeting for one of his finals I declared it his day off. We had lunch with my mom at the mall and did some window shopping. Then we came home and took a nice long nap. I thought it would be fun to do something Christmasy with Aaron tonight so we planned to make Gingerbread houses with the Hyzer's. Poor Aaron was so exhausted when the time rolled around to head over- so we let him sleep a little longer. By the time he made it over to the Hyzer's Lily was ready for bed! I offered to take her home and he could stay and hang out; but being the AMAZING husband that he is- he told me I needed a night off too- and he took the baby home to put her to bed. What a sweet guy! He got to spend a quiet night at home doing whatever he wanted though. I don't think he was too disappointed. So the Hyzers and myself made a couple Gingerbread houses! Check 'em out!

This is about all Aaron got to do before he had to take off. Our Ginger kid didn't make it...

We ended having to blow dry the frosting because we got impatient trying to hold the roof tops together waiting for them to dry. They kept caving in. This was my rooftop attempt #2.
Here is my finished house. Man...they make it look so easy on the box. I was just happy it was staying together. Also...I will never eat frosting again. Blech!Mark and Brittni's finished product. The snowman in the front is a possessed walrus snowman. The Ginger Kid behind him is a possessed child with a colonial wig, a peppermint arm, and elf shoes. (Compliments of Mark). Brittni pretty much did the rest of the house. Haha.

PHEW!

Thanksgiving was awesome! We spent Wed night and Thursday at Aaron's family's house and then we drove down to Manti (with a QUICK stop in Provo to switch out dirty clothes for clean ones) and spent Friday, Saturday, and Sunday there. Wow! It was the BEST Thanksgiving I can remember! All of Aaron's siblings were there for the Ludwig Thanksgiving- and 6 out of 7 were able to make it there for the Armstrong one (not bad!) PLUS we got an added bonus of my awesome Uncle Bill who was able to visit! Wahoo!
My parents were EATING UP how much time they got to spend with Lily. I spent the whole weekend being INCREDIBLY lazy! I think I slept in until eleven almost every day. It was SO nice to have grandmas and aunts and uncles and my wonderful husband to take over baby duty while I totally lazed it up! I do have to admit though- after five days of doing whatever the heck I wanted...I got really anxious to be back home and productive again. Too much lazy gets me feeling blue I guess. So today I scrubbed the house, did the dishes, reorganized all the drawers and closets, and made dinner! I think I can now reach a happy medium of productivity.

We Gave In!

We weren't going to even THINK about Christmas until after Thanksgiving this year. Last year we started too early and got sick of Christmas music by the middle of December. BUT I think we've held out long enough. We figure we are only going to be at our house one more day before we leave for Thanksgiving- and it would be SO nice to come home to a house that is already excited for Christmas- so we busted out the old tree tonight. Ok..it's not that old. We got it last year- and...it's barely a tree. It's some plastic on a metal rod. SOME being the main word here. It's only three feet tall. :) Also, we only have enough space and stuff to decorate a corner. Oh the joys of being a poor college student!

AND- I also had to add my two favorite pictures of Lily this week! This is Aaron and Lily having a SERIOUS talk.

Also, because Aaron is at school/work/doing homework 50+ hours a week, Lily doesn't get to see him much. (And wow do I appreciate all the hard work he does!)While she knows Aaron isn't a stranger, after a particularly long week- she sometimes gives me this semi panicked look when Aaron first holds her. She warms up after a few minutes and is SUPER happy to see him, but her first reaction seems to be 'Wait?! I know him right?!' I'm excited he'll get to spend a lot of time with her during the holidays!

Maybe this?

So I have been looking in to maybe taking 1 or 2 classes during spring/summer semester- when Aaron is less busy. Maybe he can take care of Lil for a couple hours during the day- or maybe I can find someone in our ward who is also wanting to take some classes. I just need a little purpose. So...I am applying to BYU. I'll take classes to start down the long path towards me eventual career goal (after all the kids are in high school)- a Children's Librarian. It takes a masters degree. So- the plan is to slowly but surely finish my bachelors degree in English at BYU and then get my masters degree. It'll probably take me ten or fifteen years. But- at least I'll be working toward it. Wow. I NEVER DREAMED I would miss school. But I DO!
